Undefeated four-division world champion Shakur Stevenson(25-0, 11 KOs) has signed with Zuffa Boxing, UFC head Dana White announced on Thursday.
No word on the terms of the agreement.
To date, this is the biggest signing for Zuffa Boxing.
Stevenson, 29, joins Zuffa Boxing following his dominant unanimous decision victory over Teofimo Lopez in a super lightweight title fight in January. The win earned him a world championship in his fourth weight class.
“Line them up, one by one, and I’ll beat all the top guys once I get them in front of me,” said Stevenson in a statement. “With Zuffa Boxing, I’m going to go after the biggest fights in the sport, and I will become the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”
White can’t wait to promote Stevenson’s next fight.
“Shakur is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world,” said White in a statement. “He’s 29 years old, undefeated, and already a four-division world champion. This is a massive signing for Zuffa Boxing, and I’m looking forward to promoting this next fight.”
Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, the 29-year-old southpaw was a highly decorated amateur and silver medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games before turning pro in 2017.
With Stevenson to Zuffa, it should be interesting to see what happens next. He’s made it clear that he wants fights with Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney, but if those fighters don’t sign with Zuffa, can those fights happen? We shall see.
No matter what happens, this is a massive signing for Zuffa Boxing. Stevenson is one of the biggest names in the sport, and if he keeps winning, he will only get bigger.
