The Atlanta Hawks have acquired forward Dorian Finney-Smith from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for guards Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard, and cash considerations, the team announced Tuesday.
According to ESPN, the Hornets are expected to release Nembhard.
Charlotte acquired the 33-year-old Finney-Smith from Houston for draft compensation in July after he spent the 2025–26 season with the Rockets. Last season, the 11-year veteran, who signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Rockets, averaged 3.3 points per contest.
Over his career, the undrafted forward has suited up for the Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets.
The Hawks acquired the 33-year-old Hield in February from the Golden State Warriors, along with Jonathan Kuminga, in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. Last season, Hield played in only seven games with Atlanta.
The Hawks acquired the 23-year-old Nembhard from the Dallas Mavericks in July as part of a three-team deal.
Finney-Smith gives the Hawks a veteran defensive presence and additional depth, while Hield provides the Hornets with more shooting off the bench.
