During the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams acquired All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett, the NFL’s single-season sack record holder, from the Cleveland Browns.
The blockbuster acquisition strengthened the Rams’ case as a Super Bowl contender.
However, the Rams will now be without Garrett for some time.
According to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero, Garrett will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his ailing knee and be placed on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four games.
Garrett was limited in his Rams debut, recording neither a tackle nor a sack in Thursday’s loss to the 49ers.
He is a game-changing pass rusher, and his absence leaves a significant hole in the Rams’ defense.
Three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald recently ended his retirement to join Garrett on Los Angeles’ defensive line.
Donald missed the Week 1 loss to San Francisco, meaning the Rams will have to wait longer to see the star duo play together.
Next Monday night, the Rams host the New York Giants.
