Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe sustained a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee during an off-season workout last week, the team announced on Thursday.
According to the Blazers, Sharpe underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair the meniscus.
Sharpe will begin his rehabilitation immediately and will be reevaluated in six months.
The 23-year-old signed a four-year, $90 million extension last October that begins this season. Sharpe averaged a career-high 20.8 points in 50 games last season.
Sharpe missed 28 games last season due to a stress reaction in his left fibula.
The Blazers will definitely miss what Sharpe brings to the table. He can score the basketball, and Portland will have to find a way to replace that for most of the season.
