On Friday, at Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden, unified(WBA/WBO/IBF) 130-pound world champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (18-1, 7 KOs) defeated South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin (19-4-3, 10 KOs) by unanimous decision to retain her titles in a 10-round bout with three-minute rounds.
Two judges scored the fight 98-92, 98-92, while another had it 99-91, all for Baumgardner.
Shin, 32, was not easy for Baumgardner, but “The Bomb” was in control throughout the fight.
According to Baumgardner, she has everything she needs on the physical side, but she must continue to strive to be great mentally.
“When we talk about legacy, and we talk about development, these are the types of fights that I need to be in,” she said at the post-fight press conference. “These are the type of fights that really put my skills to the test and my mentality and my mental. Physically, I have it, but mentally, it’s another threshold to overcome.”
The 31-year-old Baumgardner made it clear after the fight that she wants the legend, Katie Taylor, and she believes it would be a high-level fight.

“I think when we talk about a Katie Taylor, we talk about someone who is just as skilled,” Baumgardner said. “I believe in my abilities, and I’m sure she believes in hers. But when we talk about high-level boxing, when it comes to women, she’s a perfect person to be in the ring with.”
WBC 135-pound champion Caroline Dubois has been calling out Baumgardner. However, Baumgardner says she is not interested in Dubois at this moment.
“When we talk about Alicia Baumgardner and her career and her trajectory on where she is going, we have to align her with the biggest fights,” Baumgardner said. “I’m at a stage where I’m at the biggest fights. Dubois is a great fighter. Yes, but she’s nowhere near where I am.”
Baumgardner keeps winning, and her name continues to grow. Fights with Taylor, Dubois, or Amanda Serrano would be big.
