The epic trilogy and enduring rivalry in women’s boxing reached its climax on Friday night at a packed Madison Square Garden in New York City. In a fitting conclusion, undisputed 140-pound champion Katie Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) emerged victorious for the third time in three fights, defeating Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs) by majority decision.

After ten rounds, one judge scored the fight 95-95, which was overruled by two other judges who scored the fight 97-93 for Taylor.

The third bout unfolded at a markedly different pace than its predecessors. Instead of the usual brawling, both fighters adopted a more strategic approach, showcasing their boxing skills. This time, there were fewer toe-to-toe, blow-for-blow moments, highlighting the tactical nature of the fight.

According to Compubox, both fighters landed 70 punches. Serrano threw more punches(382-231), but Taylor was the more accurate fighter.

Conversely, in their last fight, Serrano landed 324 punches, while Taylor landed 217, so again, this time around was a much more tactical affair.

In reality, like their first two fights, this could have been scored either way. Both fighters could make the case that they won. However, in the end, both fighters win. They earned good money, it was the first-ever trilogy fight in women’s boxing history, and they headlined the first-ever all-women’s boxing card in MSG’s history.

In life, some people just have your number, and Taylor has Serrano’s number!
