The reigning BIG3 MVP, Michael Beasley, demonstrated on Sunday why he is a force to be reckoned with.
Week 5 of the BIG3 season was in Boston at TD Garden, the home of the Boston Ball Hogs.
In the game of the day, Beasley, who leads the league in scoring, scored 30 of Miami 305’s 52 points, including the team’s final seven points as Miami (3-1) defeated DMV Trilogy (0-4) 52-49.
Miami has now won two straight, and the league’s best player, Beasley, keeps getting it done.
With the team trailing 49-45, it was “Bring the Fire” time, and Beasley went one-on-one against Mike Taylor and scored to cut the lead to 49-47.
Then, he would hit a three over Isaiah Austin to put Miami up 50-49. You need 50 points to win in the BIG3, but you have to win by two, and after a Mario Chalmers miss, Beasley would get the rebound and hit a fallaway jumper for the win.
Earl Clark led Trilogy with 28 points.
In other action:
The Chicago Triplets (3-1) secured a 50-45 victory over the Dallas Power (2-2). T.J. Cline and Glen Rice Jr. led the Power with 19 points each, with Cline also contributing 13 rebounds. For the Triplets, Nasir Core scored 17 points, and Montrezl Harrell added 16.
The hometown Boston Ball Hogs(2-2) beat Dwight Howard and the L.A. Riot(2-2) 51-43. Jonathan Simmons led Boston with a game-high 27 points. Howard led the Riot with 16 points, and Jordan Crawford chipped in with 15.
The Detroit Amps(3-1) knocked off the Houston Rig Hands(1-3) 50-40. Cameron Smith had a game-high 25 points, and Shakur Juiston added 20 points and 10 rebounds. For Houston, Brandon Moss led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Looking ahead, the BIG3 action continues to heat up as the league heads to Detroit for Week 6.
