Heavyweight prospect Richard Torrez Jr. faced his toughest opponent on Saturday night at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and he got the job done.
The Olympic silver medalist defeated Guido Vianello via a 10-round unanimous decision.
Two judges scored the fight 98-92, and one judge scored it 97-92.
Torrez (13-0, 11 KOs) was aggressive from the start, and that aggression led to Vianello (13-3-1, 11 KOs) excessively holding, which led to a point deduction in Round 2.
Both Torrez and Vianello had their moments in this fight. Vianello landed a jab and a big right hand in the 5th round, which stunned Torrez, but he was able to recover.

In Rounds 8 and 9, Torrez had Vianello in trouble, he landed a left hook in the eighth round, which stunned Vianello; in Round 9, Torrez had Vianello against the ropes, and he unloaded some big shots.
After the win, the 25-year-old Torrez says he’s willing to anybody next.
“I don’t say no to fights,” he said. “I want that to be clear. I want that to be known. Whoever you guys give me, I’m going to say yes to.”
Mason KOs Ornelas
Abdullah Mason (18-0, 16 KOs) celebrated his 21st birthday with a sixth-round TKO over Carlos Ornelas (28-5, 15 KOs) to capture the NABF and NABO lightweight titles.
The Birthday Boy forced Ornelas to take a knee with pinpoint shots in rounds two, four, and six.
Ornelas’ corner let him continue, but the ringside doctor waved it off following the end of the round.
