The boxing world has been shaken after it was announced that Canelo Alvarez tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol, which Canelo claims came from Mexican meat.
At this point, both the WBC and WBA have sided with Canelo, and at this time, the fight with Gennady Golovkin is still on.
Former world champion Andre Berto gave his thoughts on the Canelo situation:
“Me going to the Olympic games in ’04 we got that talk to not eat the meat in Mexico because it gets injected,” Berto told TMZ Sports.
However, Berto did seem a little skeptical about the whole situation:
“He’s been living in Mexico all his life. He’s been tested plenty of times, and this has never happened,” Berto explained.
When asked if he thought Canelo was a cheater, Berto sarcastically said, “I don’t think nobody’s a cheater.”
