Devon Alexander is back! After two years out of the ring, Alexander easily defeated Walter Castillo back in November.
Now, Alexander wants to fight the best at 147. Alexander was a guest on the podcast Go4it with Paul Gant , and discussed the two fighters that he would like to challenge:
“If I had to pick, I would pick Danny Garcia. I see a lot of flaws. A lot of vulnerability in his craft. I see a lot of it, and Keith Thurman, too,” Alexander told Paul Gant. “I would love to fight Keith Thurman, too. A lot of flaws. Neither one of them has fought a slick, southpaw who can box, who got speed and got some thump, and the skills set that I have. They haven’t fought nobody like that. Danny Garcia, he got a little speed, but he’s not crafty. I think I’ll give both of them problems. I’ll give both of them something they haven’t saw before.”
At his best, Alexander believes he can’t be touched:
“When I’m one-hundred percent, nobody can beat me.”
Alexander was out of the ring for two years dealing with an addiction to opioids. However, he is only 30-years-old, and proved against Castillo that he still has the skills to be a factor at 147. Alexander has speed, some power, and a very good chin. I think he could give both Garcia and Thurman some problems.
Also, Alexander is with powerful advisor Al Haymon, who has a full stable of welterweights, including Thurman and Garcia. So, if he does not get Thurman or Garcia, he still has a lot of options at 147!
