Georgetown University fired their head coach John Thompson III today. Thompson III spent 13 years at Georgetown.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, former Georgetown great and Charlotte Hornets’ associate head coach Patrick Ewing may have a level of interest in Georgetown, but Ewing is said to want a NBA job. It makes perfect sense for Ewing to return to Georgetown. He might be the greatest player in the history of Georgetown basketball. However, Wojnarowski points out that Ewing’s son was on Thompson III’s staff, and Ewing is loyal to the Thompson family.
Hopefully, Ewing can get a NBA coaching job in the near future.
Ewing's son was on JT3's staff, and Patrick's remained close and loyal to Thompson family. He won't pursue job before significant thought.

In past, Charlotte associate HC Patrick Ewing held no interest in NCAA jobs. Perhaps G'town gives him pause, but he's been committed to NBA.
