Eagles get win number 13 in Chicago
Win number 13 was not a masterpiece for the Philadelphia Eagles, but it was a win as they defeated the Chicago Bears 25-20 at a cold and windy Soldier Field on Sunday.
With the win, Jalen Hurts(24 years, 133 days) is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to lead a team to a 13-1 start.
At times, the Eagles offense struggled. They had three turnovers, including two Hurts’ interceptions. Those turnovers kept the Bears in the game.
Despite the turnovers, Hurts made some big plays: he completed 22-of-37 passing for 315 yards and added 61 yards rushing on 17 attempts with three touchdowns. Hurts became the second quarterback since the 1970 merger to have multiple three-plus rushing touchdown performances in their career.
Hurts battled the cold and won.
“I think early in the game, personally, I really couldn’t feel my hands,” Hurts said. “It was very cold, didn’t really have good vision on the field, personally. Just a lot of different things going on. I think to be able to persevere through that, that’s not something that was done by myself.”
It wasn’t all Hurts; he got some help from his weapons. A.J. Brown led all receivers with nine catches for a career-high 181 yards, while DeVonta Smith hauled in five catches for 126 yards.
Those guys made big plays throughout, and Brown came up huge when the Eagles needed him the most. In the fourth quarter, and the Eagles leading 17-13, Hurts connected with Brown on a 68-yard completion that set up Philly’s final touchdown. After the Bears cut the lead to 25-20, Hurts connected with Brown on a 12-yard completion that allowed the Eagles to run out the clock.
Again, this was not a pretty win for the Eagles, but they did what they needed to do, and now, they get ready for their big showdown in Dallas against the Cowboys on Christmas Eve.
Packers-Bears to kick off the 2019 NFL season; Patriots to raise banner on SNF
The NFL’s 100th Season will kick off with a classic rivalry as the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, September 5 at 8:20 PM ET on NBC. This will be the 199th meeting between the Bears and Packers, including regular-season and post-season games.
The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will raise their championship banner on NBC Sunday Night Football in Week 1 at 8:20 PM ET on Sunday, September 8. Their opponent will be announced when the full 2019 regular season schedule is released later this spring.
The announcement was made by Hans Schroeder, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NFL Media, at the League’s Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ.
Both the 2019 Kickoff game between the Bears and Packers and Sunday Night Football will be broadcast by NBC.
Golden Tate did not know route on game-winning touchdown(VIDEO)
Nick Foles and the world champion Philadelphia Eagles kept their season alive last Sunday night by the beating the Bears at Soldier Field 16-15 in the wild-card game to advance to the divisional round to face the New Orleans Saints. Fortunately for the Eagles, luck was on their side as Bears K Cody Parkey hit the uprights on a 43-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.
Before Parkey’s miss, the Eagles were able to convert on a fourth and goal as Foles connected with WR Golden Tate on a two-yard touchdown pass.
Tate, who was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with Detroit back in October, admitted after the play that he did not know the correct route to run on the game-winning touchdown.

In the AFC, four teams have already punched their ticket to the postseason: New England (10-5, AFC East), Houston (10-5, playoff berth), Kansas City (11-4, playoff berth) and the Los Angeles Chargers (11-4, playoff berth).
Baltimore (9-6) and Pittsburgh (8-6-1) are vying for the AFC North title. Indianapolis (9-6) and Tennessee (9-6) face off on NBC’s Sunday Night Football at 8:20 PM ET in a win-and-you’re-in battle. Houston can clinch the AFC South title with a win this week, but the winner of the Indianapolis-Tennessee game would take the division crown with a Houston loss.
In the NFC, five teams have locked up playoff spots, including all four division winners: Dallas (9-6, NFC East), Chicago (11-4, NFC North), New Orleans (13-2, NFC South), the Los Angeles Rams (12-3, NFC West) and Seattle (9-6, playoff berth).
Minnesota (8-6-1) and Philadelphia (8-7) are in contention for the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. The Vikings are in position to clinch a playoff berth with a win, while the Eagles need a win and a Minnesota loss to secure their postseason entry.
The Bears, who have clinched the NFC North division title for the first time since 2010, have completed a “worst-to-first” turnaround and at least one team has won its division the season after finishing in or tied for last place in 15 of the past 16 seasons. If Houston clinches the AFC South on Sunday, it would mark the second consecutive season that two teams go from worst to first (Jacksonville and Philadelphia in 2017) – something that has never happened before in any other major US sport.
Since the 12-team playoff format was adopted in 1990 – a streak of 29 consecutive seasons – at least four teams have qualified for the playoffs in every season that were not in the postseason the year before.
With one week remaining, five teams have already qualified for the playoffs after missing the postseason in 2017 – the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks. That number could swell to as many as seven if both the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts qualify for the postseason on Sunday.

CAROLINA PANTHERS (6-9) at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (13-2) (Sunday, FOX, 1:00 PM ET)
- The Saints have clinched the NFC South, a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
DALLAS COWBOYS (9-6) at NEW YORK GIANTS (5-10) (Sunday, FOX, 1:00 PM ET)
- The Cowboys have clinched the NFC East and will enter the NFC playoffs as the No. 4 seed.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (5-10) at HOUSTON TEXANS (10-5) (Sunday, CBS, 1:00 PM ET)
- The Texans, who have clinched a playoff berth, can claim the AFC South with a win. They can also clinch a first-round bye with a win and a New England loss, and can clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a win combined with losses by New England, Kansas City and the Los Angeles Chargers.
NEW YORK JETS (4-11) at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (10-5) (Sunday, CBS, 1:00 PM ET)
- The Patriots, who have won the AFC East, can earn a first-round bye with a win or if Baltimore, Houston and Tennessee all lose.
ARIZONA CARDINALS (3-12) at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (9-6) (Sunday, FOX, 4:25 PM ET)
- The Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth and will enter the NFC playoffs as the No. 5 or 6 seed.

The NFL announced today the following schedule changes for Week 13 (December 2) and Week 14 (December 9).
In Week 13 (December 2), the Los Angeles Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers game originally scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on CBS will move to 8:20 PM ET on NBC. Additionally, the San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks game will move from 8:20 PM ET on NBC to 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
In Week 14 (December 9), the Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears game scheduled for 1:00 PM on FOX will move to 8:20 PM ET on NBC. The Pittsburgh Steelers at Oakland Raiders game originally scheduled for 8:20 PM ET on NBC will move to 4:25 PM ET on FOX.

Report: Cutler to Dolphins; Kaepernick remains unsigned
According to Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins will sign former Bears and Broncos QB Jay Cutler to a one-year, $10 million deal.
Cutler, 34, will come out of the broadcast booth to reunite with Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, who was with Cutler as the Bears OC in 2015. Cutler had some success with Gase in Chicago, but played in only five games last season due to a torn right labrum.
With Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill possibly out for the year with a knee injury, the Dolphins needed another option at QB. Currently, Matt Moore is the starter for the Dolphins.
This move still leaves free agent QB Colin Kaepernick without a job, which might be the case for a little while longer.
The #Dolphins are signing QB Jay Cutler to a 1-year contract worth $10M, source said. There are incentives in there, too.
