On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Aces announced that they have waived reserve guard Chennedy Carter.
The 5-9 guard, who signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract before the start of the season, was waived before the deadline that would have made her contract guaranteed.
In a related move, the Aces signed 6-4 guard/forward Justine Pissott, who was drafted out of Vanderbilt in the second round of the 2026 WNBA Draft by Indiana.
Recently, she missed time while battling leg injuries and an illness; she last played for the Aces on Sunday, when she scored zero points in 15 minutes of action in a loss to the Fever.
Carter, 27, averaged 12.2 points per contest in 17 minutes of action off the bench. Statistically, she got off to a strong start, scoring over 20 points in four of the team’s first six games. The way things were trending, Carter could have made a case for Sixth-Player of the Year.
Throughout her WNBA career, the No. 4 overall pick by the Atlanta Dream in the 2020 WNBA Draft has had no issues with her talent. Carter has spent time with the Dream, Sparks, and Sky. She is a talented player who has put up decent numbers. In 97 career games, Carter boasts averages of 14.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest. However, Carter has had issues with teammates and coaches and a questionable attitude, which has prevented her from achieving the success she would like in the league.
Last season, she spent time overseas in Mexico and China.
It should be interesting to see what happens next for Carter. Again, she can play, but unfortunately, it comes with other things that don’t always benefit anyone. Playing for the world-champion Aces seemed like a great opportunity for Carter, but again, as with her other stops in the WNBA, it didn’t work out.
