The Atlanta Hawks were one of the better teams in basketball in March, and two key components of that success received recognition.
Hawks Head Coach Quin Snyder has been named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month. Jalen Johnson has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played in March, the NBA announced Thursday.
Atlanta won 13 games(13-2), the most by any Eastern Conference team in the month of March, the team’s most wins in a single month since January 2015 (17) and tied for the fourth-most wins in a single month in franchise history, and for Snyder, he secured his 500th regular season career victory on March 28, becoming the 41st coach in NBA history to 500 career wins and the sixth active head coach to do so.
Since the NBA All-Star break, the Hawks own an 18-3 record (.857%), the best clip in the Eastern Conference. Per Elias Sports, this is just the sixth season in franchise history the club has won 18 games over a 21-game stretch and the first time doing so since the 2014-15 campaign (1968-69, 1986-87, 1987-88, 1993-94, 2014-15, 2025-26). Over that time, the Hawks rank second in the NBA in defensive rating (107.3), third in net rating (11.2), and eighth in offensive rating (118.5).
Johnson, 24, earns his first Player of the Month honor and becomes the first Hawk to win the league’s monthly award since January 2015.
The 2026 NBA All-Star appeared in 13 of Atlanta’s 15 games during the month, averaging 22.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 36.1 minutes. He was the only Eastern Conference player to average at least 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in March and one of only two players in the entire NBA, joining Denver’s Nikola Jokic.
In March, Johnson ranked fourth in the East in assists per game, while leading all forwards in the league. Secured four games with 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists, the most such games by an Eastern Conference player and the third-most in the league. Johnson dished out his 1,000th career assist on March 28, becoming the 15th player in franchise history to 3,500+ points, 1,500+ rebounds, and 1,000+ assists.
The fifth-year forward has 1,552 total points, 698 total rebounds, and 548 total assists, one of only two players in the league with at least 1,500 points, 500 boards, and 500 assists.
Johnson is averaging career highs of 22.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists this season, in addition to 1.3 steals in 68 games (all starts), on pace to become just the fifth player in NBA history to average at least 22.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in a single season. He ranks fifth in assists per game this season, seventh in rebounds per game, and 19th in points per game, on pace to be the first player in franchise history to rank top 20 in all three categories.
