Grizzles sign 40-year-old Taj Gibson

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed 40-year-old forward/center Taj Gibson to a multi-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

According to ESPN, it’s a two-year deal for the 17-year veteran.

Last season, Gibson played 37 games with Charlotte and averaged 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.

Gibson has appeared in 1,002 regular-season games (461 starts) and has averaged 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 23.0 minutes for the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, and Charlotte Hornets.

In a related move, the Grizzlies reached a buyout agreement with forward Kyle Anderson.

The 32-year-old Anderson, who is expected to sign with his former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, was acquired by the Grizzlies in the Jaren Jackson Jr. trade to the Jazz.

Over his career, Anderson appeared in 738 games (311 starts) over 12 NBA seasons and holds career averages of 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.0 steals in 21.4 minutes with the San Antonio Spurs, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Utah Jazz.
