The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent quarterback Desmond Ridder to their practice squad, the team announced Thursday.
Ridder, who was selected in the third round (74th overall) by the Falcons in 2022, where he spent two seasons, rejoins the Vikings for his second stint with the team in 2025. Also, this season, the 26-year-old spent time with the Bengals
Last season, Ridder spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Cincinnati Bengals (2025) before signing with the Vikings on Sept. 17, 2025.
Ridder has started 18 of the 25 matchups he has played, completing 63.6% of his passes (374-of-588) for 4,002 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 293 yards and five touchdowns on 78 attempts.
With quarterback J.J. McCarthy (concussion) uncertain to play, Minnesota may have to give rookie Max Brosmer his first-career start when the Vikings travel to Seattle to face Sam Darnold and the Seahawks.
This signing indicates McCarthy might not be ready to go.
