Eagles blow 21-0 lead, fall to Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles (8-3) four-game winning streak has come to an end after they fell to the Cowboys(5-5-1) 24-21 at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

The Eagles led 21-0 in the second quarter, and they would not score again. Dallas would score 24 unanswered points. This is tied for the largest comeback in Cowboys’ history.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Philly’s ‘Big 3’ and their outstanding performances on Sunday:

-A.J. Brown has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, but on Sunday, he played well. Brown had a season-high eight receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.

-Jalen Hurts, statistically, had a good game. He completed 27-of-39 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown. Hurts added two touchdowns on the ground.

End of the Day:

You can’t be up 21-0 and lose, especially against the Cowboys and that defense. It’s unexcusable, unacceptable, and not good.

You can blame the defense, which allowed the Cowboys to amass 473 yards, and Dak Prescott to throw for 354 yards, three total touchdowns(one on the ground).

You can blame Saquon Barkley, who lost his first fumble of the year and had a sure first down on the Eagles’ final drive, but would slip and fall.

Maybe Xavier Gipson, who fumbled on a punt return after fielding the punt inside the five-yard line, which is a cardinal sin.

Maybe the offense, which couldn’t muster up any points in the final 40 minutes of the game.

Maybe you blame Nick Sirianni, Kevin Patullo, and Vic Fangio.

Maybe you blame the penalties. The Eagles had 14 of them, which were drive killers.

Who knows, but maybe this was a loss the Eagles needed. Despite winning four straight, the Eagles haven’t been playing well. Perhaps this is a loss they need to recalibrate, reassess, and get right. Hopefully, that’s the case.

What’s Next:

The Eagles host the Chicago Bears(8-3) on Black Friday.

One More Thing…

Reed Blankenship notched his first INT of the campaign to halt a Cowboys red zone drive in the second quarter. The last time he picked off an opposing QB was 12/22/24 at Washington.

Nakobe Dean logged his career-high 3rd sack of the season when he brought down Cowboys QB Dak Prescott for a 7-yard loss on third-and-5, forcing Dallas to punt from their 6-yard line.
