76ers’ McCain has surgery on thumb, to miss at least four weeks

On Wednesday morning, the Philadelphia 76ers announced that guard Jared McCain underwent successful surgery to repair a UCL tear in his right thumb on Tuesday.
McCain, 21, will be reevaluated in approximately four weeks. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Philadelphia announced that McCain injured his thumb during a workout last week.
The 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft was a Rookie-of-the-Year favorite. He will end his season averaging 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest before being shut down in December with a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.
Philadelphia began training camp on September 27 and will tip off preseason action with two contests against the New York Knicks in the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025 at Etihad Arena. These games will take place on Thursday, October 2 (12 p.m. ET) and Saturday, October 4 (11 a.m. ET).
