At this point, the 2024-25 Philadelphia 76ers could be cursed.
Rookie guard Jared McCain reported left knee soreness following last Friday night’s loss to the Pacers, and an MRI revealed a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee, the team announced Saturday.
According to the 76ers, the injury will require surgery, and he is out indefinitely.
Joel Embiid, who has missed 16 of the team’s 23 games with a knee injury, left Friday’s game against the Pacers with a sinus fracture. In addition, Paul George has played in only 13 games due to rest and an assortment of injuries.
McCain was off to a great start. The 16th overall pick in this year’s draft was a Rookie-of-the-Year favorite. He is averaging 15.3 points(best among rookies), 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest.
On Monday night, the 76ers(7-16) will travel to Charlotte to play the Hornets.
