The 76ers have been dealt a significant blow as it was announced that guard Jared McCain suffered a UCL tear in his right thumb during a workout today.
According to the team, the 21-year-old McCain and the 76ers are consulting with specialists on next steps, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Last season, McCain put up big numbers for the 76ers.
The 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft was a Rookie-of-the-Year favorite. He will end his season averaging 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest before being shut down in December with a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.
Philadelphia begins training camp on September 27 and will tip off preseason action with two contests against the New York Knicks in the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025 at Etihad Arena. These games will take place on Thursday, October 2 (12 p.m. ET) and Saturday, October 4 (11 a.m. ET).
