Schofield-Diaz to headline Ortiz-Lubin undercard

The undercard of Vergil Ortiz-Erickson Lubin is coming together, and the co-main event with feature Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs), who will return to the ring after a knockout of Tevin Farmer in June, i He will face another Olympian and former world champion, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. (34-8-1, 15 KOs), in a 10-round lightweight co-main event(DAZN).

Diaz Jr. was last seen in a fight-of-the-year candidate against Regis Prograis on the Duarte vs. Sims Jr. undercard in August.

“I want to thank Golden Boy, Davies Entertainment and DAZN for the opportunity to come back on a card in my home state,” said Schofield Jr. “This fight with JoJo Diaz has been brewing for many years, and I’m excited to get into the ring and repeat what I did when I faced Tevin Farmer. I am ready, and I am putting in the work to show the world that I am ready to be world champion.”

Also on the televised undercard, Houston’s Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-1, 12 KOs) and Reading, Pennsylvania’s David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2, 10 KOs) will square off in a 10-round super middleweight fight. Fulghum was last seen in a tight, back-and-forth battle with Bektemir Melikuziev that did not go his way; Stevens defeated the tough Petr Khamukov in June via unanimous decision.

Opening the DAZN broadcast, Olympian and blue-chip prospect Joshua “Rocket” Edwards (4-0, 4 KOs) will face Zeno Vooris (5-1, 5 KOs), of Las Vegas, in a six-round heavyweight contest.

The undefeated Schofield is quickly making a name for himself in the boxing world. He announced his arrival in the professional world in October 2020 with a first-round knockout over Richard Esquibel. Since then, he’s been stacking up impressive wins and showing strong performances round after round. In November 2024, Schofield secured a unanimous decision victory over Rene Giron as the main event at The Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, further solidifying his status as one of boxing’s top young talents. Despite hitting the canvas in the 11th round, Schofield adjusted quickly and fought back to claim the unanimous decision.

Most recently, Schofield faced the biggest test of his career – and passed with flying colors. Kicking off the Jake Paul vs. Julio César Chávez Jr. PPV event at the Honda Center, he delivered an electrifying performance, stopping Tevin Farmer in the opening round. It was an annihilation in Anaheim. Despite the doubters, Schofield stayed grounded, using the skepticism as fuel to prove he’s the real deal. Diaz Jr., a 2012 U.S. Olympian and former IBF super featherweight champion, is a fearless fighter known for his pressure and action-packed style. He captured the IBF title in January 2020 with a disciplined win over Tevin Farmer and has consistently gone toe-to-toe with some of boxing’s biggest names. Most recently, Diaz faced former WBC world champion Regis Prograis in a co-main event in Chicago, going 12 thrilling rounds before falling via unanimous decision, a testament to his experience and resilience in the ring.

A native of El Monte, CA, Diaz began boxing at age 10 under the guidance of his father, quickly showing the talent and work ethic that would carry him through an accomplished amateur career. He amassed over 100 wins, captured two national championships, and earned a berth on the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, where he defeated Ukrainian Pavlo Ishchenko before narrowly losing to Cuban world champion Lazaro Alvarez.
