After missing the playoffs last season, the Philadelphia 76ers are eager to get things right as they begin the 2025-26 NBA season on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when they go on the road to battle the Boston Celtics, the league announced on Thursday.
The 76ers’ home opener will be against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Schedule Notes:
Philadelphia is slated to appear on national television 14 times this season across NBC/Peacock (five times), Prime Video (four times), ESPN/ESPN App (twice), Peacock (twice), and ABC/ESPN App (once).
Eleven of the 76ers’ 17 games in January will take place at Xfinity Mobile Arena, marking the team’s most home games in a single month throughout the campaign. Included in that collection of home contests is a season-long six-game homestand from Jan. 14-24, featuring back-to-back matchups against Cleveland – last season’s No. 1 seed in the East (Jan. 14, Jan. 16), a meeting with Indiana – the defending Eastern Conference Champions (Jan. 19), and notable showdowns against Phoenix (Jan. 20), Houston (Jan. 22), and New York (Jan. 24).
NBA CUP 2025:
The 2025-26 season will once again include the NBA’s annual in-season competition. Group Play, which represents the first of two stages of the tournament, will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays from Oct. 31 – Nov. 28. As part of Group B in the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia opens competition against Boston on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime. The four-game schedule also includes contests at Detroit (Nov. 14), against Orlando (Nov. 25), and at Brooklyn (Nov. 28).
Eight NBA teams will once again advance to the Knockout Rounds, which will be single elimination throughout the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Championship. The Semifinals and Championship will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Tuesday, Dec. 16, respectively.

The 76ers are slated for 16 sets of back-to-back games, which is tied for the most in the NBA. It should be interesting to see how Philly manages Joel Embiid and Paul George next season when it comes to the back-to-back games. How they manage them could have a significant impact on the season.

The team’s longest homestand of the season includes six games over an 11-day stretch from Jan. 14 to Jan. 24, starting with back-to-back games against Cleveland (Jan. 14 & 16) before hosting Indiana (Jan. 19), Phoenix (Jan. 20), Houston (Jan. 22), and New York (Jan. 24).

Philadelphia’s schedule includes a pair of season-long five-game road trips, the first of which will range from Dec. 26 through Jan. 3 at Chicago (Dec. 26), Oklahoma City (Dec. 28), Memphis (Dec. 30), Dallas (Jan. 1), and New York (Jan. 3). The second five-game trip begins in Los Angeles against the Clippers (Feb. 2) and includes contests at Golden State (Feb. 3), the Los Angeles Lakers (Feb. 5), Phoenix (Feb. 7), and Portland (Feb. 9).
