On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers announced that they have re-signed veteran guard Eric Gordon.
The 36-year-old, who recently declined his player option, reportedly returns to the 76ers on a one-year veteran’s minimum deal.
“Eric is a prolific shot maker whose ability to space the floor will serve our rotation well,” said 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey in a press release. “He’s been a great fit on and off the court with this organization and we’re fortunate to have him back,
Gordon, who originally signed with the 76ers on July 10, 2024, averaged 6.8 points and shot a career-high 40.9 percent from beyond the arc (42.6% FG, 75.0% FT) in 39 games (13 starts) last season. Gordon’s season came to an end in February after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist.
His career has been marked by consistent scoring and reliable three-point shooting, making him a valuable asset for any team. Gordon holds career averages of 15.3 points (43.0 FG%, 37.2 3FG%, 81.0 FT%), 2.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 925 career games (665 starts) across 17 NBA seasons between the Clippers, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, and Philadelphia. Gordon is one of seven active NBA players to make 2000 three-pointers while shooting at least a 37 percent average from behind the arc.
The 76ers have several guards on their roster, so it should be interesting to see the role he has with the team next season.
