76ers center Joel Embiid underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Wednesday, the team announced Friday
According to the 76ers, the procedure was performed at NYU Langone Sports Medicine Center by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow, and Embiid will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks.
The Philadelphia 76ers shut down Embiid in early March due to his ailing left knee injury.
The 30-year-old Embiid, who signed a three-year, $193 million extension with the team in the offseason, played only 19 games this season.
On a Friday night, the lottery-bound 76ers host the Atlanta Hawks, and they finish off the season on Sunday at home against the Timberwolves.
