Vick, Norfolk State begin season at home against Towson State

The Michael Vick era at Norfolk State will begin at home on August 28 against Towson State, the university announced on Tuesday.

The Spartans’ 12-game schedule will feature five conference battles and seven nonconference showdowns. Norfolk State will have five home games.

After they play Towson, Norfolk State remains at home for the “Battle of the States” on Saturday, September 6, going head-to-head with longtime rival Virginia State. 

The Spartans’ first road test comes against an FBS opponent, a matchup against Rutgers on September 13. Norfolk State returns home to face Sacred Heart on September 20 before going on the road to battle Wagner on September 27.

The 66th edition of the “Battle of the Bay” between Norfolk State and Hampton will occur on October 4 in the latter’s home venue. 

Norfolk State closes the nonconference stretch of its schedule at Wofford on October 11.

The Spartans open MEAC play on October 25 when defending MEAC champion South Carolina State comes to town for Homecoming at Dick Price Stadium.

Norfolk State will face Delaware State on the road on November 1. The showdown will pit former NFL teammates and current first-year head coaches Vick and Desean Jackson.

The Spartans head to Durham, N.C., on November 8 to meet North Carolina Central.

Norfolk State will host Morgan State for Senior Day on November 15.

They will close the regular season at Howard on November 22.
