On Thursday, the 76ers announced the acquisition of guard Jared Butler and four future second-round draft picks from Washington in exchange for Reggie Jackson and a 2026 first-round pick (least favorable of first-round picks between LA Clippers, Oklahoma City, and Houston (if Houston is 5-30))
Philadelphia receives a 2027 second-round pick (more favorable of Golden State and Phoenix), Golden State’s 2028 second-round pick, a 2030 second-round pick (more favorable of Phoenix and Portland), and Washington’s 2030 second-round pick.
In a related move, the 76ers waived two-way player Pete Nance, who was waived by Philadelphia on January 7 but was re-signed by the team a week later on January 14.
In addition, Philadelphia traded KJ Martin and two future second-round picks (2027 via Milwaukee; 2031 via Dallas) to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for cash considerations.
Butler, 24, has appeared in 32 games for the Wizards this season, averaging a career-high 6.9 points on 48.3 percent shooting (36.6% 3FG). The third-year guard’s scoring average has increased every year he’s been in the league.
Jackson, 34, who signed with the 76ers on July 30, 2024, played in 31 games for Philadelphia and averaged 4.4 points per contest. The 13-year-old veteran was waived by the Wizards after the trade.
The 76ers originally acquired Martin in November 2023 in the trade that sent James Harden to the Clippers. The 24-year-old signed a two-year, $16 million contract in the offseason, and the thought was that Philadelphia was going to use his contract to get a valuable piece for the roster. However, the 76ers eventually dumped the salary with this trade with the Pistons.
This season, Martin averaged 6.4 points per contest in 24 games.
