On Thursday, the Detroit Pistons announced a few trades that they made before the trade deadline.
The Pistons acquired guard Dennis Schröder, wing Lindy Waters III and a future second round pick from the Golden State Warriors as part of a five-team trade in which the team also sent out a future second round pick and KJ Martin, who was first acquired along with two second round picks from the Philadelphia 76ers for cash considerations, to the Utah Jazz.
In a related move, the team has waived wing Wendell Moore Jr.
Schröder, 31, began the 2024-25 season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 18.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists across 23 games while shooting 45.2% from the field and 38.7% from 3-point range in 33.6 minutes per game. On Dec. 15, 2024, the 12-year veteran was traded from the Nets to the Golden State Warriors where he made 24 appearances and averaged 10.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 26.2 minutes per game.
Waters III , 27, appeared in 38 games for Golden State this season, averaging 5.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.2 minutes per game. A four-year NBA veteran, Waters has appeared in 142 career games for Oklahoma City and Golden State and holds career averages of 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 13.6 minutes per game.
Schröder should be the backup point guard to Cade Cunningham, which should help Detroit as they make a playoff push.
