Magic’s Wagner out for season with torn ACL

Orlando Magic center Moe Wagner will miss the rest of the season after tearing his left ACL, the team announced Sunday.

Wagner, who suffered the injury to his left knee in the first quarter last night against Miami, had an MRI on Sunday, which revealed the injury.

In 30 games (one start) this season with Orlando, he’s averaging 12.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest. Wagner was an important piece off Orlando’s bench, and as of December 22, he ranked second in the NBA in points scored off the bench (372).

Originally selected in the first round (25th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft by the L.A. Lakers, Wagner has played in 363 career NBA with the Lakers, Washington, Boston and Orlando

The Magic has battled injuries this season. Paolo Banchero has missed 21 games with a torn right oblique, and Mo Wagner’s brother, Franz Wagner, has miss time also with torn right oblique.

Orlando(18-12) returns to action on Monday when they host the Boston Celtics.
