Pistons waive F/C Paul Reed

The Detroit Pistons have waived forward/center Paul Reed, the team announced Saturday.

According to Shams Charania, the move was made to give Detroit roster and salary flexibility with the NBA trade deadline less than two months away.

Reed was claimed off waivers by the Pistons on July 9, 2024, after the 76ers waived him.  The five-year veteran is averaging 4.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 12 games this season.

The 25-year-old Reed, who signed a three-year, $23 million deal with the 76ers, appeared in 82 games (24 starts) for the Philadelphia 76ers last season and averaged 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks. Reed has appeared in 215 career games (28 starts) over four seasons, all with Philadelphia, averaging 5.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.8 blocks in 13.1 minutes per game.

The Pistons host the Heat on Monday night.
