Light heavyweight contender and Philadelphia native Jesse Hart (31-3, 25 KOs) was prepared and ready to battle Ricardo Adrian Luna (27-11-2, 17 KOs) on Friday night at The Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.
The event was promoted by Teflon Promotions.
However, the unexpected happened. With his trunks on and hands wrapped, Hart learned that his fight, which was the main event, and two other fights were being called off.
The first three fights did happen, but after an extended intermission, referees and judges sitting ringside all started leaving the arena.
Later, an announcement was made by the ring announcer stating that a medical emergency caused the final three fights to be canceled.
According to Hart, whose name was mentioned as a possible opponent for David Benavidez, there was never an explanation for why his fight and the rest of the fights were called off, leaving everyone in a state of shock.
“All I know is that I looked up, and the Commissioner said there is no more boxing tonight,” he said.
Hart was very disappointed about the cancelation and said he would try to ensure he gets paid for the fight.
It was a bad night for Hart and the other fighters who could not fight on Friday night. Hopefully, something can be done to make sure everyone gets their money.
