Philadelphia 76ers made it official on Tuesday that they have signed guard Reggie Jackson.
According to reports, Jackson, who was bought out by the Charlotte Hornets and waived after being acquired by Charlotte from the Nuggets in July, signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia.
Last season, Jackson appeared in 82 games (23 starts) with Denver, averaging 10.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 22.2 minutes. He shot 43.1 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three-point range, both of which represented his highest marks since the 2020-21 season.
“Reggie is a playoff-tested veteran who brings leadership and experience to our backcourt,” Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said in a press release. “He’s been a dynamic offensive player throughout his 13 seasons in the league.”
Originally selected by Oklahoma City with the No. 24 pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, Jackson holds career averages of 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 25.2 minutes in 853 games (529 starts) across 13 NBA seasons with the Thunder, Detroit, the LA Clippers, and Denver. He has produced at least 10.0 points per game in each of his last 11 seasons, dating back to 2013-14.
A member of Denver’s 2023 championship team, Jackson has averaged 10.7 points on 38.9-percent shooting from deep, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 23.9 minutes in 87 career playoff games (39 starts).
The 34-year-old is a solid piece off the bench for the 76ers. It’s possible that Jackson could be the backup point guard next season, but we’ll see how that plays out.
