“H20” gets KO’d by Lucas Bahdi in Tampa

In the sport of boxing, anything can happen, and sometimes, it takes one punch or combination to get the job done, as we saw at the Amalie Arena in Tampa on Saturday night.

Lucas “Prince” Bahdi (17-0, 15 KOs) delivered a devastating KO over previously undefeated Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-1, 9 KOs) that left the lightweight contender lying motionless on the canvas.

To his credit, Sylve was winning every second of every round, but things changed in the 6th round; Bahdi shocked Sylve with two stunning two right crosses followed by a huge left hook that dropped him to the mat in a KO of the year contender.

“I mean, I didn’t start off good,” Bahdi said. “My legs were like quicksand. But I took this fight on, you know, three and a half weeks’ notice, and I didn’t have the best preparation for it, but I knew that this [was] my opportunity.”

According to MVP Promotions, the 20-year-old Sylve was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and cleared by doctors.

Jake Paul, who defeated Mike Perry by TKO in the main event and is Sylve’s promoter, believes “H20” will learn from this experience.

“He could just look at what I did you know, and then just come back stronger,” Paul said. “Double down. That’s a lesson for everyone- what do you do when you take losses in life? You double down. You go back to the drawing board and you keep going. You only lose when you quit. That’s a Mike Tyson quote.”

This could be a learning experience for Sylve or a knockout that ruins him. We have seen fighters return from these knockouts in the past, but unfortunately, some fighters don’t recover. Let’s hope Sylve recovers and becomes the fighter many believe he can be.
