Tszyu: ‘We’re coming back with four belts’

What’s his name??

Interim WBO 154-pound champion Tim Tszyu did not need much time to defeat Carlos Ocampo Saturday night at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia.

Tszyu (23-0, 17 KOs) jumped out early on Ocampo (34-3, 22 KOs) and dropped him with a right hand 59 seconds into the first round. Ocampo got up, but he was clearly hurt. Tszyu would jump on Ocampo and drop him with a left hand up against the ropes, and referee Danrex Tapdasa stopped the bout at 1:17 of Round One.

After the win, Tszyu, who is in line to fight undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo, called him out. Charlo was set to battle Tszyu in January, but Charlo injured his left hand, and the fight was postponed.

While waiting for that fight, Tszyu stopped former world champion Tony Harrison in March, and now, he handled business against Ocampo.

“I have a question for everyone here; what’s my mother****** name?” Tszyu said after the win. “I think that was a statement. There’s no battle with America. That’s the land I want to conquer. That’s where the big one is coming next. I want Charlo on my resume. So, get it in here, and let’s dance in October… We’re coming back with four belts.”

Tszyu, the son of former world champion Kostya Tszyu, surprised some by stopping Harrison, but against Ocampo, he did what many expected him to do. It appears he has shown some improvement. Now, I would not get too excited about this win over Ocampo. Again, that was expected.

Charlo is a different beast and one of the pound-for-pound best in the sport, so Tszyu will have to be even better to beat him.

I don’t believe Tszyu can beat Charlo at this point, but anything can happen.
