The quarterback position has been a problem area for the Jaguars for the last few years, and though their former QB Blake Bortles was able to lead the Jaguars to the AFC title game in 2017, everybody knew that Jacksonville needed more from their offense.
In 2018, the lack of production from the offense was glaring, especially at the quarterback position. Bortles is out, and enter Nick Foles, who won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles two years ago.
One guy who is excited about Foles being in Jacksonville is WR Marqise Lee, who purchased a Jugs machine to better prepare for the 2019 season.
“I’ve been paying attention a lot. Nick Foles is a great quarterback,” Lee said about Foles on Tuesday. “I don’t think I have to get in too much rhythm honestly. I have been on the jugs machine most of the time. I have bought one in every house that I have, no lie. As far as putting the ball in the vicinity – which I know he can do – I’ll be fine…
“Nelson Agholor(Eagles WR) has been with Nick Foles, so I got the opportunity to always talk to him about it. [Agholor] always speaks highly of him, so I already knew coming in that we wouldn’t have a problem. On top of that, when he did come in, just the mindset that he has as a vet, just how much he pushes to stay on top of everything, it was just a lot different.”
Lee is coming off a torn ACL in 2018, but he expects to be good to go in 2019.
“Rehab is great. I am doing very well,” Lee said. “I am on schedule, a little bit ahead. But I’m surely taking my time. I have no worries.”
If Foles plays like the guy we saw in the latter part of the 2017 season, Jacksonville should be excited. He played like an elite level QB during the playoffs that season, and if he can be that guy, and the defense can return to that 2017 form, Jacksonville should rebound nicely in 2019.
