IBF super-featherweight champion Tevin Farmer(29-4-1) continued his winning ways as he dominated Jono Carroll(16-1) to earn a unanimous decision on Friday night in Philadelphia at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University.
For Farmer, it was the third consecutive defense of his title. There was a lot of good trash talk leading up to this fight, but Farmer was the one who backed it up. Great back and forth action early on in the fight, and Farmer was getting the better of the exchanges. The Philadelphia native had Carroll in serious trouble in round 11; however, Carroll was able to survive the round.
One judge saw the fight 117-110, and the other two judges had it 117-111 all in favor of Farmer. Goforitradio.com scored the fight 119-109 in favor of Farmer.
What’s next for Farmer? Many want it to be Gervonta Davis, but the business of boxing will probably prevent that from happening anytime soon as Farmer is with Matchroom/DAZN and Davis is with PBC.
No matter what’s next, it was a good night for the “American Idol” in front of his hometown crowd.
