Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury gave the fans a great night of boxing, and to some, it was a robbery, to others it was about right. But in the end, the fans got a great fight.
Wilder retains his WBC title after his fight with lineal champion Tyson Fury was declared a controversial split draw on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Fury dominated most of the action, but Wilder was able to drop Fury in Rounds 9 and 12, which helped Wilder secure the draw.
The good news is we will get a rematch at some point.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the draw:
Tyson Fury getting up from last knockdown was equilvalent to Ali getting up knockdown in 1st Frazier fight. I just can't believe a human can take that.

I’m all for the American Champ, but it is what it is Deontay lost that fight but I’m not mad with the draw he pulled that last round out to remain the Champ so salute..

Deontay Wilder's face when Tyson Fury got up from THAT knockdown says it all. 😳 #WilderFury pic.twitter.com/43TzHDhCUw

This #WilderFury judging takes me back to my first fight with @holyfield Just goes to show how hard it is for a Brit to come to America and take someone’s belt even tho that’s what we clearly saw. Big up to @Tyson_Fury who never ceases to amaze me. Hold ur head high! 👊🏾💥

I gave Wilder two 10-8s and one other round.
That’s it.
Fury was brilliant tonight and the only man that looked like a winner. #WIlderFury— Dave Coldwell (@davidcoldwell) December 2, 2018

After overcoming mental health issues, depression and nearly 3 years out of the ring, we believe @Tyson_Fury overcame @BronzeBomber tonight too.
It sounds like a lot of you agree.
WE WANT THE REMATCH!#WilderFury pic.twitter.com/tgiYe92RBA

Joshua has to fight fury or wilder… none of Joshua other fights matter now… you have to respect both of those fighters tonight regardless of the outcome… no disrespect to Joshua but he’s the 3rd best heavyweight now until proven wrong

Wilder brought the fight all night. Fury did a great job “ShowTime”; but he didn’t Win tonight. Stop indoctrinating. We see what see

A draw, I understand (even tho I feel Fury won by a 2 or 3 rds). With 2 knockdowns & round here or there for Wilder and you have a draw in some people’s eyes. But 115-111 for Wilder is terrible, just terrible !! That’s what’s wrong with boxing. Fury’s stock went up !!!!!
