Back in March, IBF middleweight champion Danny Jacobs was involved in a verbal confrontation with middleweight contender Jermall Charlo at Barclays Center. The two talked a little trash to one another with the hope that they would battle in the ring at some point down the line.
On Saturday night, Jacobs defeated Sergey Derevyanchenko by split decision to capture the vacant IBF middleweight title at the Hulu Theater at Madison Garden. With the victory, Jacobs has options, including fighting Charlo at some point, who will battle Willie Monroe at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on December 22.
