Sho’s Stephen Espinoza on May-Pac 2: ‘I do think we will be seeing a rematch’

Floyd Mayweather is serious about returning to the sport of boxing, so says Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza, who believes Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 will happen.

“Having spoken to Floyd, I know he is deadly serious about it,” Espinoza said to TMZ Sports. “He is very, very serious about wanting the fight. From everything that I’ve seen and heard, Manny Pacquiao is serious about it as well. There’s a lot that remains to be done.

‘This year would be a big challenge; not that we haven’t pulled off stuff in a short time like we did with Mayweather-McGregor, but I do think we will be seeing the rematch, Mayweather-Pacquiao in a fairly short order.

“I understand people doubted it because of the way it was announced, so to speak, in a viral video, but I think that was just Floyd taking advantage of the opportunity in marketing in the way that he markets things.”

In September, the 41-year-old Mayweather announced on Instagram that he would be returning to the sport of boxing in December to fight the 39-year-old Pacquiao.

Shortly after that Instagram video, TMZ Sports reported that Mayweather was looking to do a tuneup fight in Japan, and then battle Pacquiao in 2019.

Back in 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision.
