Ex-Laker George on LeBron: ‘I think he’s going to bring one(championship) back before he leaves’

There have been many great players who have worn the Lakers uniform. Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and now, LeBron James.

The one thing the above guys have in common is they have captured at least one championship in Los Angeles. As we know, the Lakers have and always will be about championships. The franchise has won 16 NBA titles.

So, how many titles will the Lakers win with James? According to former Laker Devean George, who won three titles with Los Angeles, James will get at least one with the Lakers.

“I think he’s going to bring one back before he leaves,” George told TMZ Sports. “He’s going to bring one championship back to L.A., but I think his statue is going to be somewhere else.”

I don’t think James wins a title this year with the Lakers, especially if the Warriors and Rockets stay healthy.  However, if the Lakers can get their hands on Kawhi Leonard or another superstar next summer, they could probably get at least one with LeBron.

The Lakers have at least three years to build a championship roster(James signed four-year, $154 million contract, but can opt out in year four), so they have some time to get it right. However, James will turn 34 during the season, so you wonder how many years he can play at a high level.

Based on the competition in the Western Conference, and based on James’ age. One championship for LeBron should be considered a success.
