Update: Lucky Whitehead has been released by the Cowboys.
According to TMZ Sports, Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead was arrested in Virginia.
Here are the details:
Whitehead was arrested in June for allegedly stealing under $200 in stuff from a Virginia convenience store. To make things worse, a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in court on July 6, according to TMZ Sports.
Whitehead was asked about the situation after practice today:
Lucky Whitehead:
"I didn't even know about that."
(Any truth to it?)
"I don't know what's going on."
(Ever heard about it?)
"No." pic.twitter.com/OII5EbGKe0— Joe Trahan (@JoeTrahan) July 24, 2017
When asked if Whitehead could get released because of his arrest, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said: “Well, absolutely. Depending on what the situation is, we’re going to respond accordingly and do what’s in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys.”
With everything going on with Ezekiel Elliott, this is not the way the Cowboys wanted to start training camp.
While Whitehead was a contributor to the team last season, he is not Elliott. Therefore, if the allegations are true, the Cowboys could very well make an example out of Whitehead.
