Jerry Colangelo on Lonzo Ball: ‘I think it’s going to be challenging with the people around him’

Special advisor to the Philadelphia 76ers Jerry Colangelo, who is the father of 76ers GM Bryan Colangelo, has some concerns about Lonzo Ball, but those concerns have nothing to do with Ball the basketball player.

Jerry Colangelo gave his thoughts on Lonzo Ball to Carlin and Reese on 94 WIP on Friday:

“I think Ball is a terrific prospect and could have an outstanding NBA future. I think it’s going to be challenging with the people around him, without being specific, and, yet, I don’t think teams should bypass the player because they have those concerns. I think at he end of the day, what wins in this league is talent, and this is a very talented young man.”

Even with LaVar Ball in the equation, it is very clear, that Colangelo would still have no problem drafting Lonzo Ball.

When asked if he feels LaVar Ball would be an issue, Colangelo had this to say:

“That remains to be seen. I think everyone has to make whatever judgment they need to to come to a final conclusion, and I know all of that is being discussed internally by every team.”

At this point, if teams feel like Lonzo Ball can help them win, they will draft him. In the end, talent wins basketball games!

The 76ers have the third pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
