Below are other scheduling notes for the Eagles:

Philadelphia will open the 2022 campaign against Detroit on the road at Ford Field, marking the club’s first ever game against the Lions on kickoff weekend. Additionally, the Eagles will begin the season with an away game for a third consecutive year, which is the team’s longest such streak since 2011-13.

Philadelphia’s five scheduled primetime contests are its most in a season since 2018. Dating back to 2000, the Eagles have appeared in the second-most primetime games (94) in the NFL, behind Dallas (100).

A national audience will once again be treated to an Eagles-Cowboys matchup in Week 6 on Sunday Night Football. With the exception of a nationally televised 2014 Thanksgiving afternoon contest, the division rivals have squared off in primetime every season dating back to the 2007 campaign.

Philadelphia will not play consecutive road games through the first 13 weeks of the season. Furthermore, the Eagles will close the year with back-to-back home outings for the first time since 2017.

Philadelphia’s Week 7 bye marks the Eagles’ earliest break since 2016 (Week 4).

Notes on the Jaguars’ schedule:

MILES TRAVELED: The Jaguars will travel 13,284 miles during the 2021 regular season, including eight away games and one home game at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The team’s trip to London is the longest of the season (4,250 miles), followed by Seattle (2,443) and Los Angeles (2,153).

WEEK 1 IN H-TOWN: The Jaguars head to Houston to open their 2021 regular season slate on Sept. 12. The Jaguars tallied 10 sacks and forced four turnovers in a 29-7 rout the last time Jacksonville kicked off the season at Houston in 2017. LB Myles Jack was the game’s leading tackler (14), and DE Lerentee McCray posted 1.5 sacks.

THE MORE, THE MERRIER: On March 30, NFL owners approved a 17-game regular season schedule in 2021. This season, AFC teams will play host for the additional game, with the Jaguars playing the Falcons at TIAA Bank Field on Nov. 28.

Jacksonville has a 2-1 record against Atlanta at TIAA Bank Field with its last win (13-7) on Sept. 16, 2007. The Jaguars’ most memorable victory against the Falcons came during the teams’ first encounter on Dec. 22, 1996, when Atlanta K Morten Anderson missed a 30-yard field goal in the final seconds to secure the Jaguars’ first playoff appearance in their second season as a franchise. Jacksonville advanced to the AFC Championship game weeks later.

AGAINST THE EAST: The Jaguars will battle each team from the AFC East in 2021. Jacksonville hosts Miami on Oct. 17 in London and Buffalo on Nov. 7 and has back-to-back road trips to the New York Jets on Dec. 26 and New England on Jan. 2.

The Jaguars have won four of their last six contests against AFC East foes, including two wins against the Jets, one against Miami and one against New England. In addition, Jacksonville is 5-1 in its last six contests against the division at TIAA Bank Field.

The Bills last traveled to Duval County on Jan. 7, 2018 for the AFC Wild Card game in which the Jaguars advanced to the AFC Divisional round with a 10-3 victory. LB Myles Jack tallied six tackles, including 1.0 sack, and two passes defensed.

WILD, WILD WEST: The Jaguars will also compete against teams in the NFC West this season. The Jaguars have played three teams in the division – Arizona, San Francisco and the Los Angeles Rams – the fewest times (five games apiece) out of any other opponent in franchise history.

The Jaguars will visit the Seahawks on Oct. 31 and head to the City of Angels for the second time in franchise history when they battle the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Dec. 5.

THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Jacksonville travels to Cincinnati in Week 4 for a prime-time showdown with the Bengals on Thursday Night Football. The game marks Jacksonville’s 14th Thursday Night Football game and fourth on the road. The Jaguars have won four out of their last seven contests on Thursday nights.

Jacksonville defeated Cincinnati, 23-20, in the one previous prime-time game between the two teams on Sunday Night Football in 2005. 2021 marks the third consecutive season the Jaguars have had a Thursday Night Football game in September.

HOMETOWN HEROES: Several Jaguars will return to their home and college states during the 2021 season.

In Week 1, LB Dakota Allen (Humble), DT Malcom Brown (Brenham), DE/LB K’Lavon Chaisson (Houston), OL Walker Little (Houston), LS Ross Matiscik (McKinney), RB Devine Ozigbo (Sachse) and WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (DeSoto) will return to their home state. In addition, Allen (Texas Tech), Brown (Texas), WR Collin Johnson (Texas), K Josh Lambo (Texas A&M), Matiscik (Baylor) and DT Roy Roberston-Harris (Texas-El Paso) attended college in the Lonestar State. Chaisson posted four tackles for loss, including 2.0 total sacks and one strip sack, and a blocked kick to help North Shore Senior High School capture the 2015 state championship game at NRG Stadium. The Houston native sniffed out a jet-sweep pass on fourth-and-goal in overtime to seal the win.

When the Jaguars travel to the Buckeye State to play the Bengals on Thursday Night Football in Week 4, Head Coach Urban Meyer (Toledo), TE Luke Farrell (Perry), DT DaVon Hamilton (Pickerington), OL Andrew Norwell (Cincinnati), DE Aaron Patrick (Dayton), OL Austen Pleasants (Ironton), CB Josiah Scott (Hamilton), DL Dawuane Smoot (Groveport) and S Jarron Wilson (Akron) will return to their home state. DT Doug Costin (Miami), Farrell (Ohio State), Hamilton (Ohio State), RB Carlos Hyde (Ohio State), Norwell (Ohio State) and Pleasants (Ohio) competed collegiately in Ohio.

In Week 13, the Jaguars return to the West Coast to face the Rams, where several Jaguars grew up and played college football. WR Jamal Agnew (San Diego), CB Luq Barcoo (San Diego), LB Leon Jacobs (San Pedro), WR Collin Johnson (Los Angeles), WR Marvin Jones Jr. (Long Beach), CB Sidney Jones IV (West Covina), DT Roy Roberston-Harris (Oakland) and K Aldrick Rosas (Orland) all hail from The Golden State. Six Jaguars went to college in California: Agnew (San Diego State), Barcoo (San Diego State), LB Myles Jack (UCLA), Jones (California), OL Walker Little (Stanford) and DT Jay Tufele (Southern California).

In Weeks 16-17, the Jaguars will make back-to-back trips to the Northeast during the holiday season. DE Josh Allen (Montclair, N.J.), RB Ryquell Armstead (Millville, N.J.), S Andre Cisco (Queens, N.Y.), TE Tyler Davis (North Bellmore, N.Y.), TE Chris Manhertz (Bronx, N.Y.) and DT Kenny Randall (Atlantic City, N.J.) will return to the New York Metropolitan area when Jacksonville faces the Jets on Dec. 26.

STIFF COMPETITION: The Jaguars will compete in seven games – Tennessee (twice), Indianapolis (twice), Seattle, Buffalo and the L.A. Rams – against teams that qualified for the 2020 postseason.

Three of those teams include 2020 division champions: Titans, Seahawks and Bills.

LONDON CALLING: The Jaguars will return to London in 2021 to play the Dolphins in Week 6 after a brief hiatus from crossing the pond in 2020 due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions. For the eighth time in the last nine seasons, Jacksonville will play host in England.

For the first time in franchise history, the team will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Completed in 2019, the stadium is the third-largest football stadium (62,850) in England and the largest club stadium in London. The venue features its own football field which rests below its soccer pitch and is used exclusively for NFL games. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium debuted as a host venue for the NFL International Series when it hosted two NFL games in 2019.

NFL approves 17-game regular-season schedule

The NFL announced on Tuesday that they have expanded the season to 17 regular-season games, starting with the 2021 season.

With the move, teams will now play three preseason games.

“This is a monumental moment in NFL history,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The CBA with the players and the recently completed media agreements provide the foundation for us to enhance the quality of the NFL experience for our fans. And one of the benefits of each team playing 17 regular-season games is the ability for us to continue to grow our game around the world.”

The 17th game will feature teams from opposing conferences that finished in the same place within their division the previous season.

The AFC was determined to be the home conference for the 17th game in 2021:

  • Home and away against its three division opponents (six games).

  • The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating three-year cycle (four games).

  • The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle (four games).

  • Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (two games). These games match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in a conference are matched in the same way each year.

  • One interconference game based on the prior year’s standings on a rotating four-year cycle (one game). These games match a first-place team from one division against a first-place team in an opposite conference division that the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in each division are matched in the same way each year. The home conference for this game will rotate each season.

The official 2021 schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced later this spring on NFL Network and NFL.com. Information on season-ticket availability and premium seating options can be found on club websites. Single-game tickets for many clubs will also be available upon the release of the schedule.

NFL Kickoff Weekend will begin Thursday night, September 9, and the regular season will end Sunday, January 9, 2022. The 2022 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 6 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and the season will conclude with Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

In addition, all 32 teams will be required to play internationally at least once starting in 2022.

Complete list of opponents for all 32 NFL teams

The opponents for all 2019 regular-season games have been determined and a complete list of each team’s home and away matchups was issued today by the NFL.

The scheduling formula implemented in 2002 with realignment guarantees that all teams play each other on a regular, rotating basis.

Under the formula, every team plays 16 games as follows:

  • Home and away against its three division opponents (6 games).
  • The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating three-year cycle (4 games)
  • The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle (4 games)
  • Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (2 games). These games match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place, and fourth-place teams in a conference are matched in the same way each year.

Beginning in 2010, a change was made to how teams are paired in the schedule rotation with the AFC and NFC West divisions.

The official 2019 schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in the spring.

NFL Kickoff 2019 Weekend will begin on Thursday night, September 5, and the regular season will conclude on Sunday, December 29.

The season will conclude with Super Bowl LIV in Miami on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
