Since 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles have run darn near an unstoppable play, “The Tush Push.”
Last offseason, there was a thought that the play would be banned. However, the league voted on it, and the play survived.
While it was tough to stop for many seasons, last season it appeared that teams had caught up. In 2025, the Eagles converted 21 of their 33 tush pushes, which is 64%. In comparison, in 2024, the team had an 80-plus percent conversion rate with the play.
The Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo after one season on the job, and in the offseason, they hired Sean Mannion as the new offensive coordinator.
Mannion, who, like Patullo, will be an offensive coordinator for the first time in his coaching career, was asked last week if the play will remain a part of the offense; according to Mannion, it will.
“It’s going to be a part of what we do,” Mannion said. “It’s been an extremely effective play here, and we’re going to lean into that. It’s something that this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly it’s something that will be a part of it.”
With Jalen Hurts as the quarterback, it would only make sense to keep the play in the offense. The offensive line was not as good as it had been in previous years, which could have made the play less successful than it had been.
Additionally, defensive coaches catch up. They find ways to stop plays, and maybe they’ve found a way to stop this one. We won’t know until the season starts, but one thing is clear: “The Tush Push,” “Brotherly Shove,” or whatever you want to call it, will still be a part of the Eagles’ offense in 2026 and possibly beyond.
