On Saturday, the Memphis Grizzlies announced the team reached a buyout agreement with wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
After that buyout, and once he clears waivers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Pope will join his former teammate LeBron James in Philly on a one-year, $3.9 million deal.
Last season, the 33-year-old Caldwell-Pope, who also won a championship with the Nuggets in 2023, appeared in 51 games (14 starts) for the Grizzlies and averaged 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 21.9 minutes after he was acquired from the Orlando Magic on June 15, 2025.
Caldwell-Pope has competed in 963 games (784 starts) over his 13-year NBA career with the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Denver Nuggets, Magic and Grizzlies and has averaged 11.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.2 minutes.
With the addition of Caldwell-Pope, the 76ers add a 6-5 wing that can defend and is a solid three-point shooter. The Sixers add depth to a team that has a loaded starting lineup with James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown.
Now, if the team can stay healthy, with Caldwell-Pope, Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade, Dominick Barlow, Labaron Philon Jr., and Adem Bona coming off the bench, the 76ers will be tough to beat next season.
