Dennis Rodman thinks defending LeBron James would be easy

Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman was one of the best rebounders and defenders in NBA history.

In 14 seasons, Rodman, who was named the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, won two Defensive Player of the Year awards and was first-team All-Defense seven times in his career.

During his time in the NBA, Rodman, who won five NBA titles with the Pistons and Bulls, was one of the rare players who could effectively guard all five positions at a high level.

On Friday, at the Fanatics Fest in New York City, Rodman was a guest on Dwight Howard’s podcast, “Above the Rim.”

Rodman was asked about his ability to guard the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, four-time NBA champion, and free agent, LeBron James. 

According to Rodman, guarding the 6-9 James, who has a career average of 26.8 points per game, would not be very difficult for him to handle

“Do ​you ​guys ​see ​a ​18-wheeler ​driving ​on ​the ​street?” Rodman said. “​It ​goes ​this ​way, ​right? ​It ​turns ​left ​or ​right ​slowly, ​right? ​ ​LeBron is ​probably ​the ​easiest ​guy ​I ​ever ​guarded ​my ​life. ​​ ​He’s ​the ​easiest ​guy ​out ​there ​going… ​Probably, ​he’s ​about ​6-10(6-9), ​I’m ​6-​6 ​and ​stuff ​like ​that, but that ​don’t ​mean ​anything. ​I’ll ​make ​him ​go ​left ​all ​day ​long. ​I’ll ​make ​him ​shoot ​that ​damn ​jump ​shot, ​which ​he ​be ​worth ​ain’t worth sh**, but ​I love ​LeBron. ​LeBron’s ​done ​great ​things ​in ​this. ​In ​this ​world, ​man. ​I ​love ​LeBron. ​He’s ​a ​great ​player.”

Rodman was an elite defender, but you don’t become the all-time leading scorer in league history without being able to score at an elite level. 

Verdict: Rodman would have some success against LeBron, but scorers score, and LeBron James, who scored over 40,000 points in his career, would get his points! We don’t think James, who is a freak of nature, would be easy to guard for Rodman either.
