Pistons extend head coach JB Bickerstaff

After overcoming a 3-1 deficit and defeating the Magic to advance to the second round, the Detroit Pistons announced on Monday that the team has extended the contract of head coach JB Bickerstaff.

In two seasons with the Pistons, Bickerstaff has recorded a 104-60 (.634) regular season record, including two consecutive playoff appearances.  He has a career regular-season record of 359-350 (.506) in 10 NBA seasons as a head coach, including five playoff appearances.

This season, Bickerstaff led the Pistons to the best record(60-22) in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, the team advanced past the first round for the first time since 2008.

Detroit will begin its second-round best-of-7 series on Tuesday when it hosts Bickerstaff’s former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
