Luka Doncic named Western Conference Player of the Month

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in March, the league announced Thursday.

The monthly honor is his second of the season. Recently, Doncic was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks (March 16 and 23).

In a 15-2 month for the Lakers, Doncic averaged an NBA-best 37.5 points on 49.2% shooting from the field, 39.2% from 3-point range and 79.4% from the free-throw line, while adding 8.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.3 steals in 37.1 minutes. His 37.5 points per game marked the second-highest scoring average ever for the month of March, trailing only Kobe Bryant’s 40.4 points in 2007.

During the stretch, Doncic recorded 13 consecutive 30-point performances, highlighted by seven 40-point games, two 50-point outings and a Lakers career-high 60-point game in Miami. He totaled 600 points in March, becoming one of just 10 players in NBA history to score 600+ points in a single month. In 14 victories, the 27-year-old tallied 541 total points – more than seven NBA teams produced in their respective March wins.

Doncic finished the month as the only player to rank in the top 10 in scoring (first), assists (10th) and steals (third).

In 63 appearances (all starts) this season, Doncic is averaging a league-best 33.8 points while adding 7.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 35.9 minutes. He is the only player in the NBA averaging at least 30 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and is on pace to record his third season averaging 32+ points, seven+ rebounds and seven+ assists, a feat accomplished only by himself (2023-24, 2022-23) and Michael Jordan (1988–89).
