Vikings sign QB Kyler Murray

On Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings made it official when they announced that they have signed former Cardinals QB Kyler Murray to a one-year deal.

According to Adam Schefter, Murray, who Arizona already owes $36.8 million, will sign a one-year contract with Minnesota for the veteran minimum.

With Murray in the fold, the Vikings will have competition for third-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who struggled at times in 2025.

Last season, the 28-year-old Murray, who was the number one overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, played in five games with the Cardinals due to a foot injury.

In seven seasons in Arizona, Murray started all 87 games he played, completing 67.1% of his passes for 20,460 yards and 121 touchdowns, earning a passer rating of 92.2. On the ground, he added 3,193 yards and 32 touchdowns on 532 carries. The two-time Pro Bowler’s single-season career bests include a 69.2 completion percentage (2021), 3,971 passing yards (2020), and 26 touchdown passes (2020).

At this point, Murray is better than McCarthy; this move comes with minimal risk for the Vikings. If he’s great, you found your franchise quarterback, and if he’s bad, well, it didn’t cost you much.
