Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Dec. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 4, the NBA announced on Monday.
This is the first time that Avdija has won Player of the Week in his career.
Avdija, 25, helped lead Portland to a 3-1 record over the course of the week, posting averages of 26.8 points, 9.8 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game. Avdija was the only player in the entire NBA to reach each of those averages or better for the week.
Avdija’s standout week included a 29-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist triple-double on his 25th birthday during Sunday’s road win over San Antonio, which marked his third triple-double this season and fifth of his career. In just his second season with the Trail Blazers, Avdija has five 25+ point triple-doubles—second in team history.
For the season, Avdija is one of just three players in the entire NBA averaging 25+ points, 7+ assists and 7+ rebounds per game, while he ranks top 20 in the league in total assists (6th), total points (7th) and total rebounds (18th).
