After defeating the Detroit Pistons 112-109 on Friday night on the road, the Orlando Magic won East Group Play B.
The Magic went 4-0 in Group play.
Desmond Bane led the Magic with 37 points and eight rebounds, and Franz Wagner added 21. Cade Cunningham had a triple-double with 39 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley was happy with the plays Orlando made down the stretch, including a huge block by Anthony Black, who had 16 points off the bench, on Duncan Robinson’s game-tying three-point attempt to secure the win.
“I thought our guys were great,” Mosley said. “They did an excellent job of communicating in the huddle, the things we needed to do, fouling up three at that moment, coming up with the rebound. Anthony Black making a heck of a play, but those offensive rebounds down the stretch for Dell (Wendell Carter Jr.) were gigantic. I think our guys just making those small winning plays throughout the game are huge for us.”
On Saturday, the NBA announced that the Orlando Magic will host the Miami Heat at theKia Center on Tuesday, December 9, in the NBA Cup Quarterfinals.
The winner will advance to the Emirates NBA Cup Semifinals in Las Vegas, NV, on Saturday, December 13, and face the winner of the New York/Toronto Quarterfinals game.
